The annual Verbier Art Summit provides an alternative approach to fostering and shaping a global dialogue on the visual arts. Verbier | Art Untold organises the Summit in partnership with a yearly rotating art institution.
The 2017 Verbier Art Summit took place from 19 to 21 January 2017 and was organised in partnership with the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The theme for the Summit was chosen by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam: Size Matters! (De)Growth of the 21st Century Art Museum. The director of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Beatrix Ruf, and her curatorial team invited the keynote speakers. They include world-famous artists, museum directors, writers and philosophers. Each keynote speaker was selected based on their critical thinking and/or experience in the field of art and museums.
The participants of the Summit comprise of international private and corporate collectors, museum directors, curators, art historians, art critics, gallerists and art consultants. The general public is invited to attend the free Verbier Art Talks programme: 20-minute Talks held by the invited keynote speakers, providing students, collectors, artists, curators, art professionals and other art lovers with a one-off chance to be inspired by international leading art world figures on topical issues.
